DO YOU WANT TO CONFESS
A 21st century, techno-confessional-booth. An online, real-time, interactive, audiovisual interface which collects (with consent) user’s youtube history to create (an anonymous) video stream as a real time audio-visual experience. The user may then apply effects to the video stream to synchronize the video content with the music, bridging the temporal gap between previous viewing and immediate occupation of space and the body.
„Do You Want To Confess?“ explores the nefarious, mundane and cathartic potentials of public exposure of personal browser history. So if our internet use is an extension of our internal thought processes, then our browser history is a catalog of public information which has been integrated within our private corporeal cognition. Since our thoughts are private and the internet is an integral part of our thought process, people believe that their browsing history should also be private; this is ironic. This work explores this irony by creating a ritual, a techno-confessional-booth, around the act of anonymously exposing oneself in public as a form of catharsis.
