Georg Popp is a Vienna based architect, designer and co-founder of the medical technology company Turn-Motion.

Georg is also victim of poliomylitis caused by vaccination, which paralised his left leg fully and his right foot partly. Since he is one year old he has not been able walk without a medical support, called orthosis. His vision at Turn-Motion is to innovate the field of orthotic devices in order to empower millions of people with disabilities and muscular-skeletal problems.

Georg graduated from University of Applied Arts in Vienna where he received a graduate degree (Master of Architecture with distinction) from Studio Greg Lynn in 2021 and spent a semester abroad in China to study design & innovation at Tongji University in Shanghai. He also received two undergraduate degrees from the New Design University (Bachelor of Arts with distinction) in interior architecture in 2014 as well as from the University of Technology Vienna (Bachelor of Science) in architecture in 2017, where he was part of the TU-Top-Fellows high-potential program. Georg worked as an architect at BFAxKLK and as a designer at Julia Körner’s Design Label JK3D.

His work utilizes advanced materials and digital simulation for design and fabrication to create innovative designs and connect to contemporary culture. His graduate research studies were highly focused on motion capture technologies with machine learning and how this can be integrated in both - the architectural design process and building parts as a new building typology.

Georg‘s work was shown in several exhibitions in Europe such as the permanent collection of the Museum of Applied Arts Vienna (MAK), Venice Glass Weeks and Schloss Hollenegg (Design manufactured by Swarovski) as well as in Berlin, New York and Shanghai and published and mentioned in various magazines such as Archidaily, Dezeen and the Architect’s Newspaper.

He is currently teaching A.I. based design strategies at the New Design University in Austria.
