CRYSTAL DYNAMICS

At the dead sea we made profound analysis of salt crystals for digital reproduction, adaption and manufacture.

Our two layer skin pavilion is inspired both, by the way our chosen crystal formations grow on surfaces and their actual shape. The qualities of these crystals can be perceived in the micro and macro scale of the pavilion. A mesh of threads serves as structure, which will then define the way crystals grow on it. The different variations in crystal growth is determinedby external factors as light and static. Big crystals are placed at the bottom and small ones at the top to achieve a compact structure and light reflections inside. The final outcome in this particular case is a pavilion but the whole project focuses on a system of growth which can be applied to different surfaces to satisfy different needs.
